Train
The PE teacher teaches students many activities:

The PE teacher provides a service of 20 hours per week, including 17 hours of lessons and the animation of a sports association of the establishment, if one exists.

How much does a PE teacher earn?
Like all teachers, the PE teacher is a civil servant. He earns nearly €1,600 at the start of his career. And up to €3,000 net on average after 30 years of operation.
Training to become a PE teacher
Selective stream
The PE teacher must hold the certificate of aptitude for teaching secondary education (Capes) to teach in college or high school.
Since 2010, only students with a master 2 can register for the competition. For the PE teacher, it is advisable to follow a STAPS course (sciences and techniques of physical and sports activities).
1st status: trainee
From the first year of the master’s degree, students can follow observation and accompanied practice internships, then internships in responsibility in classes in the 2nd year.
Special status: private education
If a candidate goes to a college or a private high school under contract, he must pass the Cafep (certificate of aptitude for teaching duties in private 2nd degree establishments).
Qualifications needed to become a PE teacher
Jock
Passionate about sport, he is an athlete and trained. He knows the rules as well as the practice of most disciplines. The PE teacher is also in good physical condition.
Pedagogue
The PE teacher must be particularly patient with the students, for whom sport is not always a center of interest. He must explain with tact and authority the rules of sports.
