Workplace violence and harassment against women finally in the law
The French Parliament has finally just ratified the convention of the International Labor Organization (ILO) against any gender-based violence or harassment. In concrete terms, 7 measures reinforce the French legal arsenal, including the protection of victims of domestic violence against dismissal, the creation of new rights for victims, the establishment of a report on the implementation of harassment referents and, the obligation of training on the issue of violence and harassment for executives… Better late than never.
Rixain Law: towards 40% of women in governing bodies by 2030
A new step towards gender equality with the adoption by the Senate of the Rixain bill requiring 40% women in management bodies. However, it will be necessary to be patient because companies have until 2030 to apply it. And another problem, this text only targets boxes with more than 1,000 employees, i.e. a minority of companies and female employees. The good news is that the legislator is finally taking an interest in the investment sector. The public bank Bpifrance will have to respect gender diversity objectives in business support and a threshold of 30% women by 2025 in project selection committees. A 40% threshold was added by senators from 2027.
Marie-Pierre Rixain (LaREM) defends her bill “aiming to accelerate economic and professional equality”:
Funds behind parity
In Le Monde of October 4, we learn that 6 investment funds have chosen to bet on gender parity. How ? It’s simple, they “only allow companies to enter their portfolio that have initiated an internal policy in favor of women”. Among their selection criteria, the number of women and men and the wage disparity but also (and above all) the number of female employees occupying strategic positions, their advancement and the work-life balance.
When women invite themselves to the G20, it works
Meeting in Rome on the sidelines of the G20, the Women’s Forum succeeded in rallying 26 big bosses – BNP Paribas, Gucci, Engie, Enel, Publicis and even Microsoft Europe – around a pact aimed at eliminating gender inequalities in their companies. A public commitment which only asks to be followed by effects. The “Women’s Davos” also proposed a dozen initiatives aimed at (re)giving women their rightful place in the global economy.
Operation laurels for diversity
We take almost the same ones and start over. If we look at the results of the 8th edition of the Awards for the feminization of the governing bodies of SBF120 companies, we find Gecina in first place thanks in particular to the presence of more than 40% of women in its bodies studied by the Awards (Board of Directors, Executive Committees and Top 100). Sodexo is on the second step of the podium, ahead of Mercialys and Française des Jeux, which entered the top 5. Maisons du Monde retained its 5th place. The 2020 ranking once again confirms the impact of the Copé-Zimmermann law on the evolution of the rate of feminization of boards of directors and supervisory boards (45.5% in 2020, i.e. + 0.5% in one year). The rates of feminization of the comex show a clear progression in one year: +3.3% rising today to 24.7%. “However, efforts are still to be continued for the positions of general management and chairman of the board of directors, even if a slight increase is recorded between 2019 and 2020. Only 12 women are general managers or chairmen of the management board (compared to 11 in 2019) and 11 women presidents of boards of directors or supervisory boards (compared to 7 in 2019)”, underline the authors.

3 tracks to feminize the codirs
Isabelle Bastide, the president of Page Group affirms it “We must not wait any longer”. In the study on the “Feminization of governing bodies: for a new leadership” that she commissioned from Ifop, she gives 3 avenues to dare to accelerate the feminization of governing bodies;
- Set up role models : to highlight the fact that a woman, with her own qualities, is legitimate and credible as a leader.
- Developing Sisterhood: encourage greater female solidarity and the implementation of actions aimed at facilitating the exchange of ideas and career paths.
- Fighting impostor syndrome: 2 out of 3 women managers and more than half of women leaders say they have it!
Feminization of functions: when a minister gives the “the” to a deputy
Small scene of ordinary sexism in the Assembly. Julien Aubert, deputy LR of Vaucluse is then rapporteur of a bill aiming to “reason the development of wind power. “Speaking to Barbara Pompili, Minister of Ecological Transition, he keeps repeating” Madame THE Minister “. Annoyed, she asks him to call her Madame THE Minister “as provided for since 2019 by the Assembly’s regulations which stipulate that “the functions exercised within the Assembly are mentioned with the mark of the gender ordered by the person concerned “. But faced with the disrespect of the deputy who refuses to feminize the title of the minister, she throws some “Mr LA rapporteur“. Result: it is finally Barbara Pompili who is entitled to a sermon from the president of the session, Annie Genvard, deputy… LR, considering that the minister is provocative.
Back to extended paternity leave
A few months after its entry into force, this extended leave is already causing a lot of ink to flow. In Liberation, fathers testify to this “welcome upheaval” in their life as a young parent. At the other end of the spectrum, the Grenoble rugby player Timoci Nagusa explains to RMCsport, the “annoyance” of his club when he decided to take his days off to pater. Resistant to ambient pressure. Inspirational role models.

A dive into the portfolio of couples fueled by testimonies, researchers, sociologists and statisticians.
