Work-study or apprenticeship
The choice of work-study or apprenticeship has certain advantages:
- The length of experience: in fact, it is always a good idea to put on your CV that you have worked for two years in a particular company;
- Loyalty to a company: having worked for a company for two years is often rewarded with a permanent contract. Indeed, the objective of companies that recruit apprentices or work-study trainees is generally to retain them, after having trained them;
- Technicality: following these experiences, the students acquired a technicality in relation to their position.
Note: Knowledge of the sector is also a valuable asset in professional prospects immediately following this period of work-study or apprenticeship.
The long-term internship
The long-term internship is a favorable path for those who are not entirely sure of their immediate professional future. It has certain advantages:
- It is possible to vary, change and explore different tracks. The student is not confined to a single position and has the possibility, in a specific field, to discover the different facets of the profession;
- The student works full-time and throughout the cycle within the company. On the contrary, work-study students and apprentices generally spend three days in the company and two days in school or three weeks in the company and one week in school. This break does not exist when the student chooses the internship;
- In case the internship goes badly, the student has the possibility to change. This flexibility is not present for the work-study student and for the apprentice.
Note: whether on an internship, work-study or apprenticeship, the most important thing is to choose your missions carefully. It is indeed desirable that the student finds positions which correspond to his expectations and which will be an asset when he arrives on the job market.
