Gray hair = career at half mast for women?
Careful dilemma! At work, should you dye your graying hair to look younger and therefore more employable? Vanessa Cecil, a researcher from the University of Exeter precisely studies the links between ageism, sexism and appearance, reports the media “I have swimming pool with Simone”. In an older article titled “Do Older Women Have to Choose Between Feeling Authentic or Appearing Competent,” the researcher and her co-authors draw on Goffman’s theory to study the damage of stigmatizing women. who refuse to dye their hair. You will never go to the hairdresser again like before.
Our participants wanted to resist the pressure placed on them to conform to an impossible, eternally youthful image, and instead present themselves as having authentic gray hair but therefore inevitably appear older. However, this is only possible at the expense of social value: to the extent that gender and age stereotypes cast older women as incompetent, their relevance and social status depend precisely on whether they don’t look old.

Women in Tech are sounding more alarm bells than men
Frances Haugen at Meta, Janneke Parrish at Apple, Susan Fowler at Uber…these names might not mean much to you. And for good reason. In tech, whistleblowers are less publicized than their male counterparts. However, they do the job and are sometimes more virtuous than men according to a study by two American researchers relayed in The Conversation. We learn that women would be more ethical and less corruptible. And that if they can report wrongdoing confidentially (and avoid retaliation), they don’t hesitate to do so.
Women decrypt crypto
No, crypto currencies are not just a man’s business. On the contrary. According to a study by Gemini, 47% of “crypto curious” people are women. On the DNA site, we are delighted to discover that girls like Amandine Claude, alias La Mineuse, or Caroline Jurado with Les Cryptos de Caro, manage to make a very complicated universe clear and accessible. Decryption guaranteed!
Tech: one pact forward, how many steps back?
69 French tech 120 start-ups have just signed a parity pact by which they commit (well, so to speak) to greater equality in their organizations (minimum of 20% of women on the board of the company of by 2025 then 40% by 2028, joint team of speakers for internal and external speeches, etc.). Good idea because there is still work in the boy’s clubs of tech. Currently there are only 7 leaders (14 with the co-founders) at the head of the French Tech 120 start-ups. Too bad this pact does not have the force of law. And a pity that this pact has not yet won more votes within French Tech.
Retail: male CEOs more influential on the networks than female CEOs
Forced to reinvent themselves during the pandemic and scarred by consumers who are increasingly responsible and in search of transparency, retail players (stores and e-commerce) are forced to speak out more on the networks. In the ranking of the most influential CEOs unveiled by AmazingContent, once is not custom, we still find mostly men.

European Union: finally quotas for women on boards of directors
10 years ! It took 10 years for the Council and the European Parliament to finally adopt the “Women on boards” directive. By mid-2026, the boards of European companies listed on the stock exchange will have to include 33% of women or 40% among non-executive members of the board. Thanks to the Coppé-Zimmermann law, France is already above these thresholds. So the boards can sleep easy! Well not all of them! Those whose head office is not based in France will be subject to this new European directive. We are thinking, for example, of Airbus, which only has 25% of women on its board and which will therefore have to make it more feminized. This directive is also an opportunity for French female administrators who would like to sit in European companies.
A podcast for equality
Abortion, feminist diplomacy, education in sexual and affective life… the “Initial Feminism” podcast of the High Council for Equality aims to raise awareness and popularize concepts and subjects relating to women’s rights. We like the first episode devoted to égaconditionalité. In other words, no public money without equality.
The salaries of female executives are still 7% lower than those of men
Businesses may say that they are keeping an eye on things, that they are setting up grids, the law may well prohibit wage discrimination by gender effect… the result is there: women managers still earn 7% less than their male colleagues according to Apec’s 2022 Remuneration Barometer. And obviously, the wage gap does not wait for the number of years. Young female executives (< 30 years old) are paid 6% less than young male executives. "This gap, which is partly explained by differences in training courses, trades or size of positions, increases over time to peak beyond 50 years", underline the authors of the study.

A father recounts his 9 months of parental leave
Pierre K is a dad and a developer and he has just taken 9 months of parental leave. And on the Huffpost site, he recounts his ups, downs and also his troubles with his employer: “My paw leave did not start under good auspices. When I announced it to my boss, the boss of a small association who proclaims loud and clear that he is “family friendly”, he told me that he was really not happy and that it was very damage to the box. And when I told him I was in trouble with nursery and maybe I should extend my leave, he told me he would consider that a resignation (which is totally illegal, by the way) . »
