The “Mobility Credit Pass”: a budget rather than a car
Give up their company car and turn to other means of transport to get to work? It is now possible without too much effort for some employees of Subway France. The wholesaler offers a “mobility credit pass” to its sedentary executives who are allocated a mobility budget, via the Betterway card, which can be used for professional, personal and family journeys.
Instead of their company car or in addition, the volunteers will be able to activate this card in order to pay bills for taxis, public transport, a subscription to self-service bicycles, scooters, or the purchase of a bicycle, train tickets, the rental of a vehicle thermal… All for their home-work journeys, but also for their personal use.
The mobility credit works in two forms
“The “statutory” company car model is old and no longer meets the needs of certain executives. This device makes it possible to meet the needs of those who no longer wish to have a company vehicle”, explains Denis Saada, co-founder of Betterway
Melaine Pouchain-De Vita
But Metro France has not chosen to completely remove the possibility of keeping a company car: “Those who wish to keep a company vehicle can. They then choose an electric vehicle of a lower range and receive the delta in mobility credit, to be spent with their card.underlines Mélaine Pouchain-De Vita, mobility and work environment manager at Metro France.
How many volunteers?
For the time being, 130 employees of Metro France are eligible for this mobility credit pass, assimilated to a benefit in kind therefore taxed on income. Since the launch last April, 16 people have passed the milestone, of which 3 have decided to completely give up their company vehicle. The others have opted for a hybrid car – mobility credit mix.
The company is counting on constant progress in the months to come, but it is clear that this is not entirely won.
How to encourage without forcing?
So to bring its employees to even more sustainable but gentle mobility, Metro France encourages short trips by bike and scooter via a sharing system. For medium-distance journeys, such as a Paris-Bordeaux – the train is privileged. Finally, for their holidays, their employees can borrow a vehicle from a car-sharing park.
What environmental impact?
Even if the company has not carried out a preliminary environmental impact study, it attests to a drop in CO2 emissions thanks to the de facto reduction in the size of its car fleet and the regression of “the autosolisme” in favor of shared journeys.
