40% of freelancers do not plan to go on vacation this summer
For lack of time and money, but also for fear of missing out on a contract, losing a client… almost one out of two freelancers will not be taking a vacation this summer. In the absence of pre-established and above all pre-financed paid holidays, the self-employed are in a certain state of dependence vis-à-vis their clients. To the point of depriving themselves of vacations. Freelancing is the guaranteed freedom to work… a lot.
70% of the self-employed work during their holidays
Freelancers who take a summer break don’t really switch off. 70% continue to work (yes, the customer is king). And not just a little since more than a third of the self-employed report having to work several times during their holidays.
If you are an employee and you are reading this article, you are probably thinking that you are in the same situation because you sometimes log on to your job during the holidays. It’s true ! With the difference that you benefit from paid holidays whereas for freelancers, it’s “no pain no gain”. On vacation, they do not return turnover and therefore no income. According to itg.fr, 86% of self-employed people therefore finance their holidays with their savings.
*The survey was carried out on 1,000 employees and self-employed persons aged 18 and over. The survey was carried out online, on the YouGov France proprietary panel from June 02 to 08, 2022
