The diagnostician can be employed by a real estate agency. But in general he has his own firm, often a very small company, in which case he carries out his management in parallel. His working days can therefore be very long.

The real estate diagnostician spends little time sitting at his desk. He visits real estate, which involves frequent travel.
And always accompanied
This profession also involves contact with many stakeholders. It works with professionals:

- and real estate: architects, agencies, trustees, notaries…
How much does a home inspector earn?
The salary of the diagnostician varies according to his professional status since prices in the sector are not regulated. On average, it is in the range of €1,500 to €3,000 gross per month. Often, the employee also benefits from a telephone and a company car.
Training to become a real estate diagnostician
Bac + 2
The real estate diagnostician can apply after 2 years of higher education, having completed one of the following BTS:
- BTS real estate professions;
- BTS hygiene, cleanliness, environment;
- Technical-commercial BTS, building materials option;
- Technical-commercial BTS, electrical and mechanical engineering option.
Certificate
If no diploma is obligatorily required, the real estate diagnostician must nevertheless pass an examination with a certifying body approved by COFRAC. He must indeed be certified for each diagnosis to be able to practice.

Goal
Its diagnoses have the value of a certificate and constitute guarantees of conformity of the property. The diagnostician must therefore be:
- neutral ;
- franc ;
- and precise.
Autonomous
The diagnostician is very often alone, even if he often has to call on other professionals. He must handle all situations without fear. But also have a good relationship with sellers and buyers.
Thoroughness
To write reports and calculate surfaces, the real estate diagnostician must have writing skills and mathematical facilities. His reports are necessarily written with rigor.
